Markdown that writes like a page.

Kolada renders Markdown as you type and hides the symbols until your caret is on them. Underneath, every note is a plain .md file.

Live Markdown, no preview pane

There is no split view and no mode to switch. Type ## and a heading appears. Type - [ ] and a checkbox appears. The markers show only on the line you are editing, so the page reads cleanly while the file stays pure Markdown.

  • Headings, bold, italics, strikethrough and code
  • Bulleted and numbered lists, checklists and quotes
  • Tables: Tab moves between cells, Enter adds a row
  • ==Highlights==, #tags and [[links]] between notes
  • Text expansion: ;;date becomes today’s date

Plain files, Obsidian compatible

Your vault is a folder of .md files. Kolada follows outside edits live, so you can keep Obsidian, VS Code or any editor open on the same folder. Nothing is locked in a database and nothing needs exporting to leave.

Everything turns into Markdown

Paste from the web, Word, Google Docs, Outlook, Teams or Excel and Kolada writes clean Markdown, pictures included. Drop a DOCX, PDF or HTML file to make a note. Import from Evernote (.enex) and Notion (.zip). Export as Markdown, a web page or a PDF.
